Hello! My name is Raya and I am a trainer and researcher. Sharaf is a close friend of mine whom I consider like a young brother.

Sharaf is in his final year in med school, and we have known each other over a year and a half now and I have been supporting him to survive daily life in Gaza (food, water, transport) as he finishes his medical degree and supports his family.

Sharaf is dear to my heart and it would mean everything to me if you’re able to support this campaign.

Here’s Sharaf’s message to you: “We come from a community that values dignity and honor, but it is the hardships that have shaped the path of our lives and made us who we are today…”

My name is Sharaf Eddin Ajjour, and I’m a final-year medical student from Gaza.

Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of becoming a doctor — not for the title, but to heal, to serve, and to bring hope to people in need. Despite war, displacement, and daily hardship, I’ve held onto this dream with everything I have.

I’ve spent the past six years studying medicine in Gaza under some of the harshest conditions imaginable. Our hospitals — like Al-Shifa, Al-Hello, Nasser Hospital, Al-Aqsa Hospital and Al-Quds — have become both classrooms and battlegrounds. I’ve studied under the sound of airstrikes, treated patients in overcrowded emergency rooms, and crossed rubble-filled streets just to reach my rotations.

But in late 2023, everything changed.

My home of 15 years was destroyed in a bombing. My university was shut down. My family also lost our only source of income and work.My books, notes, and the life I built were all reduced to dust. I lost more than just possessions — I lost the ability to finish my education in Gaza.

And yet, I haven’t given up.

I’m now trying to continue my medical training abroad — not just to survive, but to one day return as a skilled doctor who can rebuild and serve my community.

But this path is financially impossible for me alone. That’s why I’m reaching out with deep humility and hope — for your support, your voice, or your kindness.

Estimated expenses:

Please note: These are estimated costs and may vary slightly depending on the destination country, visa requirements, and unforeseen circumstances.

Every single contribution — even $1 — helps me take a step forward.

If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this story. Your support, in any form, gives me strength to continue.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I promise to carry your generosity with me — in every patient I help, and in every life I try to save. Kindness never goes unrewarded; it always finds its way back to those who give it.

I lost my beloved friend. On Monday, the occupation struck Nasser Hospital, where my closest friend Mohammad was doing his medical training. The strike killed over 20 people, including six journalists, and my friend, my brother, Mohammad. We promised each other we’d finish this journey together. The pain is unbearable. We were partners in our graduation research project, and now I have to carry it forward without him.

Believe it or not, the only thing keeping me hopeful right now is this campaign. My family and I are packing our belongings once again, preparing for yet another forced displacement to the south as the occupation surrounds Gaza City.

Thanks to your support, I was able to pay off the rest of my university fees, and I will never forget the kindness shown to me. Kindness, I believe, must be returned one day to those who give it. I also managed to pass my OSCE exam in Obstetrics and Gynecology with distinction, and I remain determined to become a specialist in this field.

I’m still holding on to my dream of completing my medical specialization outside Gaza so I can continue to serve my people, a dream I’ve carried with me since my very first year of medical school. Much love from Gaza.

Here he is again, after surviving yet another close call when an Israeli airstrike hit a house right next to the place his family is renting.

Despite the destruction and the fear, Sharaf continues to pursue his dream, starting his Anesthesia and Intensive Care rotation in what remains of Gaza’s destroyed hospitals. All of this is happening while new threats of a ground invasion in Gaza City loom over him, his family, and everyone remaining in Gaza City.

He doesn’t know what tomorrow will bring but somehow he still holds on to what remains of hope, despite the possibility of being forcibly displaced yet again.

Sharaf is doing his best to support his family with the basics. Every bit of support you send goes directly to him and his family.

We are eternally grateful for your generosity.

I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has contributed and supported so far.

Sharaf has received another money transfer for this month $1,630. He was able to buy 10kg of flour, along with some other basic necessities for his family such as cooking oil, rice, and vegetables ❤️

He is now completing his final Obstetrics and Gynecology rotation in his last year of medical training, and continues his journey with great hope to achieve his dreams. To reach this goal, Sharaf needs to pay his remaining university fees which have accumulated since the start of the war, amounting to $6,600.

We are using parts of the amounts raised to cover his tuition in order for Sharaf to continue his path to becoming a fully certified medical doctor.

Many have reached out to ask how the funds are able to reach Sharaf and his family. Thankfully, regular bank transfers are still possible. Attached is a proof of transfer that the latest fund was able to reach Sharaf (omitting sensitive details). If you have any questions in that regard, feel free to reach out anytime.

Every small contribution from you gives him hope and support. Thank you to every person that has come forward with their generosity ❤️
